Saure Gurken: Not fresh but forever young!
Mittagessen mit der Matriarchalen Volksküche
How to be in aging? Lunch together with the Matriarchal People's Kitchen
Let's share recipes for fears, worries, but also spicy anticipations around growing older in these crisis-ridden times. How can our visions stay crisp and not become diluted in the natural ageing process? We cook and eat in the now while arming ourselves with cucumber water for later.
The Matriarchal People's Kitchen has been realising various kitchen, dinner and discourse situations since 2018 and endeavours to gather different perspectives and approaches around the table in order to spoon out the soup together, look beyond our own plates and exchange recipes for future coexistence.
The collective thus continues the work of the people's kitchens, whose economy of care contrasts with the economy of the free market. People's kitchens are not just kitchens, but also a network of social care. However, the mostly unpaid care work performed in them also raises the question of internalised dissemination mechanisms and value systems in neoliberal capitalist structures.
