Kampf der Sinne
by Ore Arts e.V. (Heidelberg / Mannheim)
6 Tage Frei
The postmodern concept of art is defined by the grand narrative of whiteness. Although postmodernism is based on the deconstruction of grand narratives, it has failed to deconstruct its own whiteness.
"We developed KAMPF DER SINNE to show the marginalisation of blackness and otherness in the cultural-political system. The audio-visual dance performance is a reactivation of our Black heritage that focuses on the senses: Touch that creates emotional and physical well-being. Rediscovering the world through sight. Tasting the foods of our countries through taste buds. Perceiving language, internalising music and finding expression through hearing. Taking cues from our surroundings and thus reshaping them through the sense of smell."
The performance will be followed by an After Talk for black people*:
As part of a larger attempt to create more intersectional spaces, the Ore Arts collective will offer a time of sharing and reflection, meeting and greeting after the performance.
* The term black is often chosen as a self-designation by people of African and Afro-diasporic origin, black people, people of dark skin colour. We therefore cordially invite people of African descent, Africans, African diasporic people.
